Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.
This week, we honor Timothy Miller from Australia. Timothy started the Lids4Kids organization which encourages people to collect plastic lids from landfills, their homes and schools. He started this 18 months ago and since then 30 tons of plastic has been collected and turned into prosthetics, school supplies, and playground equipment.
Timothy says that about 50 thousand plastic lids are dropped off at his home every week. He holds workshops at schools to talk about the importance of recycling and shares how it can help save the planet. He hopes that he inspires kids around the world to collect single-use plastic and re-purpose it to make this world a better place.
