Hero of the Week: Kyle Gean

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we received an email from one proud mom who wanted to nominate her seven-year-old Kyle as an ACC Hero. Monica Gean, from Knapp, Wisconsin, writes:

Dear Kix,

In December, my seven-year-old son Kyle decided he wanted to help others in the community by selling cupcakes to raise money. He made red velvet cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, complete with a marshmallow and sprinkles and sold them to friends and family in Knapp. Word spread quickly and between the end of December through February, he made and sold somewhere around nine hundred cupcakes.

Kyle contributed to each batch by cracking the eggs, measuring the ingredients, and carefully whisking the batter. His stepdad and I helped him measure the batter and place them in the oven for him, but Kyle was in charge of keeping track of the time and temperature. When the cupcakes cooled, we frosted them but Kyle decorated them.

Even though he had a little help, this fundraiser wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for the caring spirit of Kyle. Every day after school, he asked how many cupcakes he needed to make. He was always excited to deliver them to the recipients as well.

This isn’t Kyle’s first fundraising effort for our local food pantry. In 2019, he placed several non-perishable food boxes around our small town and collected more than one hundred pounds of food to donate.

Kyle will be eight in May but has already starting thinking about what he would like to do to help once again. His ideas are to make and sell lemonade this summer and possibly caramel popcorn this fall.

Signed,
Monica

Kix’s Response:

Kyle, I’m happy to make you our ACC Hero! Great job, buddy, and happy early birthday! We heard that’s coming up on May 8th!
