This week, we highlight the life of Wesley Hamilton, from Kansas City, Missouri. In January of 2012, Wesley got into an altercation that resulted in gun fire. He sustained shots to his abdomen that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
Although he felt defeated and depressed from his situation, he was motivated to get better, so he could be the best father to his daughter Navaeh. Wesley took a college course on nutrition, losing 100 pounds. Then, he became a certified CrossFit trainer.
Wesley wanted to help others with disabilities, so he started a non-profit called Disabled But Not Really. He now trains dozens of people with disabilities, helping them to become stronger and more independent. During the pandemic, he did personal training from his own gym and even launched a mobile gym, continuing to safely train those stuck at home.
