We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
Back in January, Luke Combs became the first artist to score ten consecutive number ones on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. The song that helped him achieve that feat was “Better Together” which he wrote with Randy Montana and Dan Isbell. And, it ended up topping the chart for a total of five weeks.
Randy had the line “we go together like good ole boys and beer.” At that point, Luke thought that would be a great way to write a love song, just match up images that are perfect together. The song would go on to become a love letter to his then fiancée, now wife, Nicole – especially the line, “If I’m being honest, your first and my last name.”
Luke admits that there will probably always be songs about Nicole on his albums. For fans, this one has been highlighted as a favorite among wedding songs. It’s lyrics have popped up on everything from coffee mugs to wall hangings.
