Hero of the Week: Maddie Pira

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

We received an email nominating Maddie Pira for Hero of the Week.

Maddie is a high school student and a very accomplished one at that. She’s a varsity athlete, has a spot on the debate team and is a straight-A student. At her debate club, Maddie learned about the crisis in Yemen and how the children there were suffering and in need of food and medical aid.

So, Maddie decided to start an initiative called Clothes For Change. She collects clothes from family and friends and sells the items online. Fifty percent of the proceeds are then sent to Yemen Aid. Maddie’s project was recognized by her school’s newspaper and her spirit of goodwill has inspired others to give back.

Suzanne’s Response:

Maddie, congratulations! You sound like you have a big heart and turning it into action is great to see. What a way to get it done!
