Hero of the Week: Lucas Weme

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we look at the story of a pre-med student who put his education to work by saving the life of his own father!

Lucas Weme, from Minnesota, had finished up his training in what is called Bystander CPR and was enjoying the day with his family. His father, Robert, came out to the porch to sit with the family when he collapsed to the floor. He had no pulse and began to turn blue – that’s when Lucas jumped into action. He said that he put his emotions aside and started to use CPR training.

Lucas’ dad came to, and the family called 911 so that the ambulance could take him to the hospital. Robert, who was a paramedic for 26 years, is now doing fine. And, he says that he couldn’t be more proud of his son Lucas for saving his life.
