The Song Remembers When: Kane Brown – “Cool Again”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Last year, Kane Brown reached the Top 5 with “Cool Again” from his Mixtape, Vol. 1 EP. The song was written by Kane, Josh Hoge, Matt McGinn, and Lindsay Rimes. It came out of a songwriters’ retreat where they all got together to specifically write for Kane’s project.

It was a cold day in December when they wrote this one, and Matt threw out the idea for “Cool Again.” From there, the writers started reminiscing about past relationships and summertime. Kane loved how it turned out.

Soon after Kane recorded it, he was talking with R&B artist Nelly about working together. Kane thought “Cool Again” would be a good one for the two of them.  So, in August of last year, they released a re-mix of the song.

That September, Kane’s solo version reached number three on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart and hung out there for five weeks.
