Early in 2014, Florida Georgia Line scored their fourth consecutive number one from their debut album Here’s To The Good Times. “Stay” would remain at the top of the chart for the whole month of January!
The guys said they’d heard the song few years before. It was originally written and recorded by the rock band Black Stone Cherry. “Stay” landed with FGL because their producer Joey Moi was a co-writer on the song.
Brian Kelley said that the duo felt if they were going to record an outside song, they wanted one that didn’t need anything changed – that’s exactly how they felt about “Stay.”
