Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.
This week, we received an email from one of our listeners Zina Lambert in Maine. She sent us a story about two young brothers who did a heroic deed. And, although she doesn’t know the boys, she felt they should be recognized as our Heroes of the Week.
Connor and Seamus Collins, from Topsham, Maine, jumped into action on their school bus when they noticed that the driver 77-year-old Arthur McDougal was slumped over.
Connor, 16, ran to grab the wheel and hit the brakes bringing the bus to a stop. His brother Seamus, 12, calmed the kids down on the bus as they started to panic. One of the kids called 911, making sure police were on their way. Once the bus came to a stop, Seamus opened the back emergency door and helped the kids exit the bus.
The driver was taken to the hospital where he, unfortunately, passed. The Collins brothers said they were sorry to lose their driver who they described as a very nice man.

Kix’s Response:
How great is it to see those boys jump into action when needed! When a crisis hits, sometimes people, especially young kids, can panic and not make the right decision, so good for Conner and Seamus for taking control.
We’re happy to recognize them both as our ACC Heroes!
