We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
In Roanoke, Virginia, a beloved children’s book character has come to life! An eight-foot cut out of Waldo from the children’s puzzle book Where’s Waldo? can be found at the construction site right below the Carilion Children’s Hospital. Josh Young is part of the construction firm that is adding on the hospital. He came up with the idea to bring Waldo to life.
Josh wanted to do something to brighten the little patients’ days. So, he came up with the idea to take a cut out of Waldo and put him in a new spot on the site each day, so the kids have something to look forward to. The construction site is right below the children’s hospital. Giving patients and staff the perfect view to ask, “Where’s Waldo?” Every single morning, Josh says the first thing his crew does when they show up is find a new place for Waldo. He and his crew have big plans for new hiding spots and different costumes for upcoming holidays.
One of the specialists at the hospital said she enjoys this spark of joy each day. She said that it’s important to bring excitement to the pediatric patients which is exactly what Waldo is doing.
