Hero of the Week: Darrin Reed

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Chance Reed wrote in this week to nominate his late father Darrin as our Hero of the Week. He writes:

Dear Kix,

My dad Darrin was a police officer killed in the line of duty in November 2016. He was not only my father, but my best friend and mentor. He was the officer that would pay out of his own pocket – buying a bus ticket or food – to help those in need. He was killed while trying to confront a drug dealer.

My father’s absence has left a large void, not only in my life but in the community he served.  He inspired so many to wear the uniform and become a police officer including me. He truly made a difference.  I can’t even begin to add up the number of lives he’s changed.

Thank you for your consideration.

Signed,
Chance

Kix’s Response:

Chance, we are sorry for your loss. We’re happy to recognize your father as our ACC Hero.

We thank Darrin Reed for his service and his sacrifice. And, Chance, thanks to you too for putting on the uniform and carrying on his legacy of service.
