We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
Song: “Nobody But You”
Songwriters: Ross Copperman, Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne, and Tommy Lee James
Album: Fully Loaded: God’s Country
“Nobody But You” was the first duet Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani recorded together to be released as a single to country radio. One of the song’s writers Shane McAnally had just worked with Gwen a few days prior to writing this, so he had the couple on his mind.
Shane was working on the TV show Songland and ended up on the set of The Voice to record some promos. He ran into Blake and told him about the song.
Blake knew it was something special after the first listen. He immediately thought Gwen should sing it with him, after all it was about them. Blake says that the fact that they ended up together and get to record music together is unbelievable, “a dream come true.”
In 2020, Blake and Gwen performed the song on the Grammy Awards, and, later that spring, “Nobody But You” topped the chart for a two-week stay.
