The Song Remembers When: Eric Church – “Springsteen”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Springsteen”
Songwriters: Eric Church, Jeff Hyde, and Ryan Tyndell
Album: Chief

In the summer of 2012, Eric Church landed at the top of the chart with “Springsteen.” The title takes its name from New Jersey’s famous son, rocker Bruce Springsteen. And, although the song is titled after Bruce, it’s not actually about him. It conjures up memories of a love affair at an amphitheater.

Eric said the inspiration was about a girl and another artist’s music, but he changed the artist to Springsteen because Bruce was one of his musical heroes.

“Springsteen” was the third single from Eric’s Chief album. It took only 23 weeks to make it to number one where it stayed for two weeks!
