Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.
John Reeves emailed us this story about a young volunteer firefighter from Sharon, Mississippi, who he felt deserved to be named this week’s ACC Hero.
Kris Lecabellec was driving down Highway 15 South in Mississippi when he spotted a single car accident. He was the first one on the scene and found the driver with life-threatening injuries. She was unable to remove herself from the vehicle which had rolled over. While Kris was giving aid to the driver, the vehicle caught on fire. He and another individual who came across the scene were able to pull the driver from the vehicle and move her to safety.
The Glade Volunteer Fire Department voted unanimously to award Kris for his heroism. Chief Dan McKenna said that there is no way that woman would’ve survived had Kris not been there to get her to safety. According to Kris, he gives the glory to God for putting him in the right place at the right time!

Kix’s Response:
Being in the right place at the right time doesn’t always mean you can find the courage to pull someone from a gas-fed car fire. We’re happy to recognize Kris Lecabellec as our ACC Hero.
