The Song Remembers When: Kenny Chesney – “Get Along”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Get Along”
Songwriters: Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman, and Josh Osborne
Album: Songs For The Saints

In 2016, Kenny Chesney received the song “Get Along.” He had just finished recording his Cosmic Hallelujah album, so it was too late to put the song on that project. But, Kenny loved the rhythm and he especially loved the message of finding common ground. That’s a message he lives and shares with No Shoes Nation. Kenny said that the more he moved around the world, the more he found that people are all seeking the same things: “work hard to get by” and “hope for the best” for family and friends.

When it was time to head back into the studio for his next album, Kenny recorded “Get Along” and released it as the first single from Songs For The Saints. It eventually made its way to the top of the chart in 2018 where it stayed for two weeks. At the time, it pushed Kenny into first place as the artist with the most number ones since Billboard began the Country Airplay chart in 1990. Since then, he’s added two more chart-toppers (“Here And Now” and “Half Of My Hometown” with Kelsea Ballerini) to his resume bringing his current tally to 32.
