Hero of the Week: Susan

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

We often hear that one person can make a difference. In Grand Rapids, Michigan, that is exactly what happened when a woman named Susan realized that the children in her area didn’t have a safe environment to play in. She got the idea to find a community center where kids could not only play but learn and connect with each other. Once that center was up and running, it quickly became the hub of activities for the local community.

Susan continues to work to raise funds so that the center can provide programs and education in addition to other activities. She also works on public policy, serving as an advocate for those in her area, and she often mentors the young women in her town.
