Hero of the Week: Tim Letts

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

Tim Letts, of New Jersey, is being called a “miracle Uber driver.” He picked up Bill Sumeil who had been at the hospital for his dialysis appointment. The two struck up a conversation on the drive and Tim found out that Bill needed a kidney as soon as possible because of his age.

Tim, who was 33 at the time, said that he’d give him one. Bill started shaking after Tim made that offer and took down his name and number. The appointment was made, and the operation was successful!

Today, Bill has surpassed his one-year mark. Tim, who now lives in Germany, said he was happy to give the gift of life to Bill and feels like he was put in the right place at the right time. The two are now life-long friends.
