The Song Remembers When: Blake Shelton ft. Gwen Sebastian – “My Eyes”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “My Eyes”
Songwriters Andrew Dorff, Tommy Lee James, and Josh Osborne
Album: Based On A True Story…

In 2014, Blake Shelton released the fifth and final single from his album Based On A True Story… “My Eyes” would become his 12th consecutive number one. It was also the first time he’d collaborated with his friend Gwen Sebastian who had been a contestant on the second season of The Voice.

The first line that came to songwriters Andrew Dorff, Tommy Lee James, and Josh Osborne was “The only thing I don’t want to take off of you is my eyes.” It was undoubtedly one of the sexiest lines they’d written. They also admitted that it would be a challenging song to sing but Blake nailed it.

The song was released in April 2014 and by July, Blake would have another number one, marking his fastest climb to the top of the chart!
