Gordon Hartman’s daughter Morgan was born with both physical and cognitive disabilities. In 2006, while on a family vacation, he watched her become very sad as she was unable to join in on the activities the other kids were doing. That moment inspired Gordon to build an all-accessible theme park. He had experience as a builder and enlisted help from experts on building his dream: Morgan’s Wonderland.
The park, which is in the Hartman family’s hometown of San Antonio, Texas, is not just for kids with disabilities, it’s for everyone. Every ride is ultra-accessible. Morgan’s Wonderland opened in 2010 and is believed to be the only one like it in the world. In fact, Gordon has welcomed guests from dozens of countries and those with disabilities have free access to the park.

Kix’s Response:
What a story! We’ve all heard that famous mis-quote from Field of Dreams: “If you build it, [they] will come.” He did and they have!
We’re happy to recognize Gordon Hartman as our ACC Hero!
