In Chesterfield County, Virginia, a utilities worker named Calvin Godette performs random acts of kindness. He’ll buy food or coffee for the car behind him at the drive-thru. He’s paid for someone’s gas, and he’s bought groceries for the person in line next to him.
One day, Calvin noticed a woman behind him in the drive-thru. She seemed sad, so he decided to buy her a meal. He had no idea that the woman Denise Walters had just lost her husband and was at her lowest point. When she found out Calvin had bought her meal, she tracked him down to thank him. Denise said that Calvin’s kindness turned her sadness and despair around, so she helped him get recognized by the county board of supervisors for his generosity.
Both Calvin and Denise have stayed in touch, and now, she also spreads goodwill towards others. She says Calvin is her role model and has given new meaning to her life.
