When it comes to the men and women in blue, it’s not hard to find heroes especially when talking about Lieutenant Corey Brooks of the Salisbury Police Department in North Carolina. Lieutenant Brooks had won several commendations including the City of Salisbury’s Bronze Keys of Excellence, Veteran Officer of the Year, and the Brotherhood Award. So, when he said this next story was the scariest thing he’d ever had to do in his career, well, you know it’s serious.
Lieutenant Brooks was driving down the interstate when he saw a tractor trailer slam into the guardrail and catch fire. According to the police department, the video of what happened next looked like a real-life scene out of a movie.
The video shows Lieutenant Brooks running up to the cab where he found the driver unconscious. As he tries to pull the man out of the cab, a female driver came running up to help. Both he and Lieutenant Brooks were able to pull the driver out and get him across the street from the burning truck. As they got the man to safety, you could hear the vehicle burst into flames.
Lieutenant Brooks has no idea who the woman that came to help him was because she disappeared once she knew that Lieutenant Brooks and the driver were safe. The truck driver Michael Williams made a complete recovery. And, Lieutenant Brooks was once again honored for his incredible bravery.
