Hero of the Week: Brandon Haight

Brandon Haight is a maintenance worker for the Washington Department of Transportation. Early one morning, Brandon was checking out road conditions when he saw an unusual glow followed by dark smoke from behind a home near the highway.

Once he realized it was a house fire, Brandon radioed in to report the fire. Then, he ran up to the home yelling, “Fire!” He made sure everyone was out of the house and safe. Firefighters arrived and said the fire was so hot, you could feel it from the road. They added that there easily could’ve been causalities had it not been for Brandon.

For his heroic efforts, Brandon was awarded the Safety Challenge Coin by the Washington State Department of Transportation and the State Patrol.
