The Song Remembers When: Scotty McCreery – “See You Tonight”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “See You Tonight”
Songwriters: Scotty McCreery, Ashley Gorley, and Zach Crowell
Album: See You Tonight

In 2013, Scotty McCreery was about to release his second studio album. Its first single was the title cut, “See You Tonight.”

This project was the first time Scotty had a chance to do some co-writing. His first album came together so fast after winning American Idol that he had no time to write. This time around, Scotty was able to join songwriters Ashley Gorley and Zach Crowell for a writing session.

Zach already had this loop which Scotty loved the sound of, and they sat for a while talking about it and what it made them feel. They landed on a story about a girl and the guy who needed to see her immediately. Those long-distance photos and phone calls just weren’t cutting it anymore.

Although Scotty had several platinum-selling songs at the time, “See You Tonight” was his first song to crack the Top 10 (peaking at #8) on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart.
