Hero of the Week: Philadelphia Tow Truck Driver

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

On a Saturday night in Philadelphia, a tow operator was doing his normal routine while on the job. He was working to impound a car when he heard gunfire. A police officer had been shot and the shooter was on the run. The tow truck driver and his partner got to the officer, loaded him into a car, and rushed to the hospital.

An executive with the Parking Authority said that his employee was just acting on impulse and took a heroic step to get involved and help the officer who was down. He added that it’ll take some time for the events of that evening to sink in for the driver because it was such a traumatic experience.

Kix’s Response:

Well, we don’t have the name of that Parking Authority employee in Philly, but I would like to name them as our ACC Hero.

By the way, the shooter was caught and arrested. Our thoughts with the officer who was shot on the job. Here’s to a speedy recovery.
