Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.
This week we received a message from William Smith to nominate his son Gregory as an ACC Hero. He writes:
Dear Kix,
My wife and I divorced years ago, and she took my son and daughter and moved to New Jersey. I stayed back in Alabama.
We had a few bad years when my ex was diagnosed with breast cancer, and then COVID hit. Gregory’s high school graduation was cancelled, and I could not see him graduate. After high school, Gregory enrolled in the Army. He soon joined the Night Stalkers which is an elite helicopter squadron.
My ex continued her battle with cancer. She reached a point where she could no longer afford to stay in Jersey, so Gregory took in my ex and my daughter.
His mother is now better and back at work. She and my daughter have a new home, thanks to the help they received from Gregory. I just want to say how proud I am of the man my son has become.
I would like to recognize Private First Class Gregory Smith as my hero.
Signed,
William
