In 2012, Chase Rice teamed up with Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line to write the duo’s debut and career-defining song “Cruise.”
Some years later, in 2020, Chase brought a song to the duo in hopes of recording a collaboration. Ironically, the song was written before the pandemic. Chase felt it was a gift. He and his fellow writers, which included FGL’s producer Corey Crowder, had no idea what was to come with so many people forced to sit at home – maybe while they were there, they took in a little backyard fire, drank a few with their friends or family, and talked about religion. The song was very relatable to the times.
“Drinkin’ Beer. Talkin’ God. Amen.” landed on Chase’s project titled The Album. In November 2020, it was released as the second single and went on to number one the following year. It was Chase’s second chart-topper and FGL’s 16th.
