Heroes of the Week: Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we received an email from Virginia Lowry who works with horses. Virginia wanted to nominate an organization that has rescued over 1,500 horses in their 25 years of existence. She writes:

Dear Kix,

Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society, in College Station, Texas, has a motto that they live by. They call it the 4 R’s: rescue, rehabilitate, re-train and re-home. Their mission is to improve the lives of horses through education and by helping owners and assisting law enforcement in rescues.

For example, a neglected horse by the name of Aretha was rescued by Bluebonnet. After some much-needed care and rehabilitation, the team realized that she had been trained to ride. These days, Aretha works at a YMCA camp where she carries beginner riders, and everyone loves her. She is now thriving in her new forever home. ### Everyone that works with Bluebonnet – all the volunteers and staff – should receive recognition for the work they do on behalf of these beautiful animals. They are truly heroes.

Happy Trails,
Viriginia

Kix’s Response:

I’m a horse guy, and I can tell you there is nothin’ better than the love of a good horse.

I’m happy to call Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society, in College Station, Texas, our ACC Heroes.
