The Song Remembers When: Kane Brown and Katelyn Brown – “Thank God”

We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…

Song: “Thank God”
Songwriters: Christian Davis, Kyle Fishman, Jaxson Free, Josh Hoge, and Jared Mullins
Album: Different Man

“Thank God” is a special song in the lives of Kane Brown and his wife Katelyn. It marked the first time the couple collaborated musically. Before the pair were married in 2019, Katelyn had been a contemporary R&B artist.

Now, Kane had been searching for just the right song to sing with his wife, and it wasn’t an easy process. He’d already gone through five demos before finding “Thank God.” The song was written by five people, including his close friend Josh Hoge, and was originally written for a solo artist, but Kane turned it into a duet. Katelyn immediately fell in love with the track.

When the song was released in September 2022, it received praise for the couple’s harmonies. Fans loved it, and by February 2023, “Thank God” reached number one. This made Kane and Katelyn only the second married couple to reach this milestone since Tim McGraw and Faith Hill did it with “It’s Your Love” in 1997.
