Agriculture pilot Charlie Adams, from Rayville, Louisiana, rises with the sun. He’s up and working before most folks open their eyes. As an aerial applicator for crops, he spends a lot of his time in the air. He also volunteers with Pilots for Patients.
With the Pilots for Patients, Charlie flies patients from his area to wherever they need to go for medical care. Lately, he’s been flying a nurse Nicki Hagen from Louisiana to Houston. Nicki is fighting breast cancer, and the drive for her to the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston would be five hours. So, Charlie stepped in to provide Nicki a flight back and forth at no cost for all her treatments.

Kix’s Response:
Good on you, Charlie! There are still some great folks in this country, a lot of them are in rural America. Sometimes patients won’t make the trek for treatment because of the hours of driving. Depending on the illness, you know, sometimes it’s just too painful to make a trip like that. So, Pilots for Patients is a lifesaver for these folks!
So, to Charlie Adams and all of those with the organization, you are our ACC Heroes!
