Lee Klett from Sigourney, Iowa wrote in and shared his Hero nomination. He writes:

Dear Kix,

Last week, we suffered a house fire.  The fire department believes that it was due to an overheated laptop too close to a bed. My sister, Donna, and her year-old son were in the house at the time. And, she did the only thing she could think of: she grabbed her son and ran to the neighbor’s house.

Now, Max, my neighbor, sprang into action – no small feat considering Max is 80. While my sister called 911, Max grabbed his 27 year-old fire extinguisher, rushed into the house, and put out the fire. The fire department arrived four minutes later, but Max had it already taken care of!

He insists that he’s not a hero, but I know many would disagree, including me! His quick thinking kept my family from being homeless. I’ll never be able to repay him.

And, by the way, Max refused to go to the hospital to get checked out after putting that fire out. He said that he just needed a nap.

Thanks, Kix! I’m a big fan of what you do and your music!

Signed,
Lee

Kix’s Response:

Well, Max, buddy, you are a hero! Well done! And, I’m glad that everybody was okay and escaped without injury. It is so smart to have a fire extinguisher! So, this week, it is Max Michel – our Kidde Hero of the Week!
