Find out how you can nominate a “Hero of the Week” at the bottom of the page.
Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week…
This week, we salute World War II veteran Bob Graham, who earned Bronze and Silver stars for his service.
Bob passed away back in April at the age of 97. He outlived all his friends and family, so there was no one left to help memorialize him – that’s where Beth Regan stepped in.
Beth is a 27-year-old volunteer from the nursing home where Bob had been living. She reached out online to tell everyone of all that he accomplished as a Marine fighting for our country. Beth came to know him well as she watched Bob sit by his wife’s side every day. His wife died two years ago, and Beth said that his grief was so bad she knew he would soon follow. Beth wanted to celebrate his life, but she had no idea the outpouring that would follow.
Firefighters lined the streets and hoisted a giant American flag during the funeral procession. And, at Bob’s funeral, it was standing room only. The American flag, which is folded up and given to the loved ones of decorated veterans, was presented to Beth.

LOCASH’s Response:
So, this is a two-parter for this week’s hero – first, to a former Marine the late Bob Graham for his service to this country, and to Beth Regan, who saw a hero and wanted to make sure he had the proper burial.
On this Memorial Day weekend, we salute you both!
