We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
In 2011, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood teamed up for the song “Remind Me.” This was the second time that they recorded a duet together. The first? It took place in 2007 on the song “Oh Love,” which earned them a Grammy nomination.
Now, “Remind Me” was another successful collaboration for them. The song reached number one, and the video went on to win several awards, including a CMT Music Award for Best Collaborative Video.
“Remind Me” was co-written by Brad, Chris Dubois, and Kelly Lovelace. Brad had this idea of a “call and response” kind of lyric. And, because of his friendship with Carrie, she was his first choice for the duet.
Carrie recalls that Brad reached out to her while she was in L.A., and he sang the song over the phone. She liked what she heard, so she flew back to record it.
Now, when Carrie got to the studio, Brad was still changing the lyrics. She said that it was a bit unorganized, but she loved being a part of that process. She felt the last minute changes really kept that song “in the moment.”
It went on to become Brad’s 20th number one and Carrie’s 14th chart-topper. And, it’s this week’s The Song Remembers When – Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood’s “Remind Me.”
