Hero of the Week: Jake Wood

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

This week, we take a look at a story we came across on CNN. Team Rubicon was co-founded by a former Marine named Jake Wood. Jake has enlisted veterans to help out in more than 500 humanitarian disasters over the last decade. He says that former men and women who have served our country are extremely valuable in times of crisis.

Today, the 120 thousand volunteers that make up Team Rubicon are being asked to join the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Campaign.  The goal of this campaign is to help the folks who are most in need right now. From shopping for them and leaving their groceries at their door to simply just placing a call to make sure they’re okay, its acts like these that can make a difference. It’s all about keeping them safe from contracting the virus.

So far, they’ve helped more than half a million people in more than 500 communities around the country. And, Jake is asking everyone, regardless of whether you have military experience, to join in helping others. You can find out more here.

Kix’s Response:

Thank you, Jake – you are this week’s ACC Hero!
