We take you behind the scenes and explore the making of one of our favorite tunes with The Song Remembers When…
In 2019, Matt Stell released “Prayed For You.” It was co-written with Alison Veltz and Ash Bowers. The song was responsible for landing Matt a record deal and going on to become a viral success.
Matt said that the song was initially inspired by his co-writer Alison Veltz’s personal story. She had just met the man she would go on to marry. And, although the song started out that way, Matt would piggyback on that idea with his own story of being in a relationship.
The song started out about a guy who wasn’t necessarily the spiritual type, but the power of the relationship changed his life and lead him to believe in a deepening faith.
The video, featuring TV reality star Savannah Chrisley and her fiancé at the time Nic Kerdiles, helped keep the song moving up the chart. And, it became the first number one of Matt’s career and spent a total of two weeks at the top.
It’s this week’s The Song Remembers When… Here’s Matt Stell and “Prayed For You.”
