This week, our team came across this story about a brave nine-year-old.
In April, a tornado blew through Oklahoma. On that day, the Baker family – Wayne, Lindy, and their nine-year-old son Branson – got into their truck to drive to their friend’s storm cellar. While driving, they saw a tornado about a mile away. Then, as tornados do, it changed direction and came barreling straight towards them.
As the EF-4 tornado blew past them, it uprooted a tree which crashed down on their truck, rendering them unable to move. Branson was able to slip out, and he told his parents he would run and get help. As he took off, he yelled back, “Don’t die!” Branson ran a mile before finding help.
Both Wayne and Lindy had to be hospitalized. Wayne said he couldn’t be prouder of his son and how he wasted no time running to get help.
At Branson’s baseball game the following day, he hit a home run and turned it into a double play. Afterwards, he said he did it for his mom and dad!
