Hero of the Week: Jordan Chrestman

Throughout the week, our ACC Team searches through emails and news articles looking for someone who deserves to be the Hero of the Week… Find out how you can nominate a Hero of the Week at the bottom of the page.

In Mississippi, Bob Gist and a friend took the morning to go fishing on Granada Lake. They hired Jordan Chrestman, a local bass fishing guide, to help them find some good fishing spots.

After a while, they heard dogs barking, and Jordan thought something might be wrong. So, he asked if it would be okay to break from fishing and go investigate what all the barking was about.

The guys came up on a group of dogs treading water! They assumed that the hounds had run after a deer that jumped into the lake. They were unable to keep pace as the deer swam away. They counted 38 confused dogs treading water, all going in different directions and unable to see the shore. So, Bob, his friend, and the fishing guide, started grabbing the dogs and racing to shore.

They had to make three trips. It was on that last run when they were able to connect with the owners who were clearly relieved to see their dogs. Thankfully, all the dogs were saved!

Bob credits their fishing guide Jordan as the hero in this story. It was at his request they chased down the commotion which led them to the dogs.
