Dear Kix,
Many years ago, when I was 17, I visited my half-brother for the summer. His niece introduced me to one of her girlfriends Peggy and I immediately fell for her. I knew she was the one!
We spent most of that summer together and became very good friends even though I wanted more. I was honestly too afraid to tell her how I felt.
The summer ended, and I headed back home. We kept in touch for about three years, but after I joined the Marine Corps, we eventually lost touch.
Our lives went full circle… we both got married and raised our families. Then, sadly, both our spouses passed away almost to the day, one year apart.
Then, one day on Facebook, Peggy saw my name and she reached out. We started writing each other and then had phone calls that lasted forever. I finally went to see her, 300 miles away, and when we met, we picked up right where we left off! We spent five great days together and couldn’t stay away from each other! Finally, on Valentine’s Day of this year, I took her to where we first met and asked her to marry me! Without hesitation, she said yes.
Kix, when we first met it was 1959! We are both 71 now, and will be married September 12th of this year. Its hard to believe, but we are madly in love and think we had been all those years.
Last week, I told her that I had wanted to kiss her that one summer all those years ago, but I was too chicken… Well, as it turns out, she said that she was thinking, “Are you going to kiss me or not?” the whole time!
