Are You Gonna Kiss Me or Not? – Christy’s Story

This is where YOU tell us YOUR love stories!  You know, like how you met your honey… how you found true love after all this time… or maybe even how you finally got back together with the one that got away.  You get the idea – whatever your “happily ever after” is, we wanna hear it!!!

This week’s story comes from Christy who writes…

Dear Kix,

They say opposites attract and I guess they do because my husband and I were definitely opposites when we met.

I had moved to Monroe, Georgia, my senior year and was not looking for a relationship, but I needed a prom date.  Darrell was in two of my classes.  He was the redneck bad boy and I was the church-going, preppy girl.  He sat in front of me in my literature class and would always fall asleep.  As a joke, I would jab him in the ribs and watch him jolt awake.  One day he turned around and asked me why I did that and my best friend said “Because she likes you, stupid.”  Of course, I denied it.

Well, one night, after work, I had to stop and get gas… and who should arrive but Darrell and his brother David!  We started talking and after a while his brother asked me who I was dating and I said “Nobody.”  Darrell said “Me”.  And, I said “Okay!”  That was 29 years ago and we just celebrated our 24th wedding anniversary on July 6th!

Even though we looked like we were opposites, we found we had a lot of values and hobbies that were alike.  Sometimes you’ve got to look past the outward appearances to get to the heart of the person – when you do, you will find that you are a lot more alike than you are different.

Thanks, Kix!

Sincerely,

Christy

Kix’s Response:

You got it, Christy. You know what they say about opposites attracting…and you’re right about not judging a book by its cover. I think motorcycles and tattoos could fall under that same slogan. Some of the nicest folks I know have metal stuck here and there – not suggesting you should do it – just saying.
