Dear Kix,
I want to nominate my daughter Ashley Sand.
Four years ago, she lost someone she loved very much. He was a soldier, stationed at Fort Hood, who became very ill and died a few weeks before his first deployment. He loved what he did and was excited to serve. So, Ashley set out to find a way he could always be remembered and she could continue to serve in his honor.
She started by sending care packages for the troops at Christmas which has now grown into a year round initiative. And, last year, she started doing Dollars for a Difference by going to schools and collecting money through food drives. Just last Christmas, she got over $7,500 in food and supplies and was able to send out over 80 care packages, averaging $16 each. Any funds she still needed, she paid for herself.
She is teaching us all that together… we can get it done!
She’s only 22 years old and is definitely my biggest hero!

That is a fantastic story, Kimberly. Please tell your daughter Ashley how proud we are of her. I certainly hope this story will inspire some other folks to do what they can for our service men and women. It’s a tough job, and we need to let them know how much we appreciate all they do.
