Dan sent us an email about his hero…his father, Dr. Kenneth Hartman. He writes:
Dear Kix,
My dad served in the Army in the 1980s, and in 2009, he started the organization called Our Community Salutes, which recognizes high school seniors who plan to enlist immediately after graduation. These kids rarely get any recognition for their selfless decision to skip college and serve our great nation.
My dad’s organization has spread across the country, and there are now 50 chapters in 23 states. This year, his all-volunteer organization will honor over 20 thousand high school seniors and their families.
Nobody was doing anything to recognize and honor our military-bound high school graduates until my dad took on the challenge, and for that he’s is my hero. I hope you’ll agree!
Thanks, Kix!
Signed,
Dan Hartman
