Rita sent us an email about her hero… She writes:

Dear Kix,

I would like to nominate my fiancée, Justin Matthews, for Hero of the Week. Justin has been serving with the Lee County Sheriff Office in Sanford, North Carolina, since 2008. His job often means facing situations that many others would run from, but he stays strong so he can protect the county’s citizens.

One scary incident happened a couple years ago, when the roads were covered in snow and ice, and he was the first responder to a scene where a child had been struck by a vehicle. He immediately began CPR, and by the time EMS and fire officials arrived, that kid had a pulse.

I admire Justin’s dedication and quick thinking! He has a big heart and a soft spot for kids, and he does this job to make people smile and make sure the county in which he serves is safe!

Thank you for considering him for Hero of the Week.

Signed,

Rita

Kix’s Response:

Hey, you got it, Rita!

And, I think most of our listeners would agree… To all you men and women who dedicate your lives to helping others, in ambulances and fire trucks and especially law enforcement – all you first responders – we can’t thank you enough for what you do.

Keep up the good work out there!
