Brad Paisley wrote this one with a couple of songwriters he’s written a lot of tunes with – Kelley Lovelace and Ashley Gorley.
Now, Brad had written a couple of comedy songs, and he wanted to change it up a bit. So, they started brainstorming on topics. Brad ran home for dinner and on the drive he came up with this idea for the chorus. So, he called up Kelley, and he said, “What about all the things that we’ve borrowed from other countries that make America great!” And, the seed was planted!!!
The trio spent several days working on the idea, right up until the last minute it was recorded.
In the fall of 2009, Brad released the song and it became a Top 3 hit…
