This week's story is from Ryan in Georgia who writes…
Dear Kix,
I met my wife 22 years ago at a Pig-Pickin' event at a local church. One of the ladies I had met at the church was trying to set me up with her niece, but I had no idea. At that time in my life I was recently divorced…and had really turned my meeting someone new over to a higher power, so to speak.
Anyway, back to the Pig Pickin’… I was asked to play the banjo with a bluegrass band that was there that night. Their regular banjo picker was not able to be there. I don’t really remember what I was wearing other than a pair of neon green and yellow tennis shoes. Those tennis shoes I think just attracted any kind of light that was around and just glowed in the dark. I actually had a date that night so my friend did not introduce me to her neice …
But, she didn’t stop there — she gave me her niece’s phone number anyway and told me I needed to call and talk to her. I gave her a call and we set up a blind date. Well, come to find out on the night of the Pig-Pickin' she was just sitting in the car and some guy walked by with some neon green and yellow tennis shoes and she thought he would probably be fun to go out with. On this coming September 6th, we will be married 22 years and it’s a little too hard to go out on a date any more with three boys. But, we are still having fun and loving how it all came together for us way back then! By the way, we listen to you every Sunday morning on the way to church.
And maybe, just maybe, if she hears this story on your radio show on our way to church, I’ll get to say — “Are you Gonna Kiss Me or Not?”
