Our Kidde Hero of the Week spotlights Michael Enochs.

Lexi emailed us and wrote about her Hero story and we wanted to share it with you:

Dear Kix,

I met the love of my life and my hero, Michael Enochs, back in June of 2008.  He was 18 at the time and I was 16, but I knew, early on, he was the man I would marry.  Mike was a volunteer firefighter and an EMT, and he was also beginning nursing school when we met. I LOVED his heart and how he had dedicated his life to helping others!  We spent two wonderful years dating, but in October of 2010 our lives would change forever.

After an MRI to determine why Mike was having such terrible headaches, we learned Mike had brain cancer.  Unfortunately, Mike was unable to continue firefighting and nursing school. But, throughout his entire battle with cancer, he was the MOST optimistic and positive person of us all. He even kept ME strong.  And he continued to inspire everyone around him until he was called home on January 19, 2012.

Although I wish our love story could have continued – we were supposed to get married just two DAYS after he passed away – I know in my heart that the man upstairs had bigger plans.

Mike is my inspiration, my motivation, and the reason I wake up each morning.   I know he is up there guiding all of those he loved.

Thank you for allowing me to share my story, it makes me smile to talk about the one person who has impacted my life…and so many of those around him. He’s my forever fiancé, my hero…Michael Enochs.

Kix’s Response:

Thanks for your story, Lexi. You don’t have to listen to this show very often to know what a fan I am of, not just our armed forces, but also our public servants who also put themselves in harms way.  It sounds like your man Michael was very special – what these heroes give us will live on forever!
