Our Kidde Hero of the Week spotlights Jackie Bobcean.

After years of growing up in and surviving through a violent household, Jackie Bobcean decided she needed to do something to help stop domestic violence in other people's lives. So, she established HandBags of Hope, a nonprofit organization that donates gently used purses and handbags to women who have escaped abusive relationships. Many of these women fled with their children without anything but the clothes they were wearing.
Jackie and her volunteers are supported only by the donations of others, and they have given away over 17 thousand bags to date. Inside each bag are small items women would use in their daily lives like makeup, pens and hair brushes and often include handwritten notes of encouragement and support.
