Hey, Kix!
First off, I love your show! I was just wondering what made you want to get into radio and if you knew you’d make such a great host. Also, if you were going to do anything else…what would be another dream job for you?

I actually had no intention of getting into radio. Seven years ago this show was owned by ABC Radio who also owned ESPN, and they approached me about hosting when Bob Kingsley was leaving. I was very nervous because I had no real experience…though I had spent a lot of time in radio studios doing the Brooks & Dunn thing and I knew about the music and most of the artists I had either been on tour with or knew to some extent, so I thought what the heck – the worst they can do is fire me and I really do love our business!
So, then they sent me up to the ESPN Campus in Connecticut and I went to interview school which was about the coolest thing I’ve ever done! I got to study all the great interviews through history and why they worked and why they didn’t. And now, I just try to have a good visit and ask some of the things that I think you might want to ask. Like all things country music, you listeners out there are our bosses, and I really appreciate you letting me do this because it is something I enjoy and look forward to every week.
As far as another dream job, I’ve really just gotten started acting. It’s really fun and challenging and there are a lot of creative people at one time working on a movie set. I could stand a little more of that action!
