Madison emailed us her Hero nomination and we wanted to share it with you…
Dear Kix,
This man is the most influential person in my life and I believe it's time to show him how appreciative I am for everything he's ever done for me.
Mr. Higgins was my algebra teacher my freshman year, but our bond only grew as time went on. He's done a lot for me and I don't know if I could ever repay him.
First off, I was never really good at math and he taught it to me in a way that I could understand despite the fact that he had a set lesson plan for the rest of the class that I just wasn't able to comprehend.
Secondly, when I turned 16 and things went south with my parents, he guided me in the right direction but encouraged me to make my own decisions. He's never given up on me no matter how hairy things may have gotten. He's taught me things that my parents should've taught me and I couldn't be anymore grateful to have someone as amazing and influential in my life.
Mr. Higgins, you are the definition of a hero. I look up to you and you inspire me so much. I don't know what I would do without you. I know this isn't much, but thanks for everything you've ever done for me.

Well, Madison, I sure hope Mr. Higgins is listening, and here’s to everyone out there who has taken the time to help some young person – whether it’s in a Boys & Girls Club or a children’s home or just some young person who needs a little guidance or helping hand, we’ve all got to do our part when we can to help our youth get off on the right foot!
