A loving sister named Krista emailed us and shared her Hero nomination and we wanted to share it with you…

Dear Kix,

I would like to nominate my sister Nicole Robinson. She is the mother of two wonderful boys. Her youngest will be a year old in a few weeks, but, unlike other children, he won't ever sit up; he won't ever walk; he won't ever play. He was diagnosed with SMA (Spinal Muscular Dystrophy) and has very little muscle in his body, but the light in his eyes gives everyone hope.

My sister has been strong through this year’s unexpected journey. She has kept her faith in the Lord through it all… when everyone I know would have given up.

Her daily routines include breathing treatments to keep his lungs clear and feedings though his feeding tube in his tummy. They have been in and out of the hospital for months at a time and yet she continues to keep a smile on her face.

She is truly the strongest person I know.

Thanks, Kix.

Signed,
Krista

Kix's Response:

Thanks so much for your letter, Krista.

I like this one – last week, I did a concert for the Cystic Fibrosis foundation and I came away from there with a whole new respect and the same inspiration you’ve gotten from you’re sister Krista.

Bless all the kids out their who are born special, but it’s the parents who are challenged with, not just the day-to-day hardship of physically caring for a special needs child but also the emotional hardship on the whole family – someone has to keep that smile going and I can’t even imagine how tough that must be some days.

You don’t get to go to school for that… It’s just the power of the heart and the good Lord above.
