Our Kidde Hero of the Week spotlights Jaspen Boothe.

Recently, Kix found this story on People Magazine's website and wanted to share it with you!

In August 20015, Army Reservist Jaspen Boothe was in training for an upcoming deployment to Iraq. Devoted to the reserves for 13 years, Jaspen had given up her New Orleans home and stored all her belongings; however, when Hurricane Katrina hit, she, along with her nine year-old son, lost everything. Then, only a month later, Jaspen received a cancer diagnosis and was honorably discharged from the military.

Thankfully, a relative opened their home to the single mom and found a job working for the Army National Guard. During the course of her work, Jaspen discovered that oftentimes former reservists and guardswomen did not have a place to live once their time in the service had concluded. This inspired Jaspen to make a difference and she founded Final Salute, a nonprofit organization that steps in to provide temporary shelter, counseling, child care and more to former military women and their families. Thanks to Jaspen these women's lives are changed forever!

Kix's Response:

That is fantastic, Jaspen!

Thanks so much for your service – that’s stepping up in a very needed and different way to help serve your country. Keep it up!!!
