This week's question is from Anthony who writes…
Hey Kix,
I listen to your show on Nash FM 94.7 and I was wondering how up-and-coming country music artists get to perform at the Opry. How are the artists chosen? And, what does it feel like getting to perform there for the very first time?
Thanks, Kix!
Signed,
Anthony

Kix's Response:
Well, Anthony… First, it’s an honor to be asked to perform at what is known around here as the “Mother Church” – the Grand Ole Opry – and I think they just sort of keep an eye out on who’s sort of up-and-coming and then, you have some long-term members like Vince Gill and Brad Paisley and Whispering Bill who see something special in an artist and make those recommendations.
And, of course, there’s really no feeling quite like it especially at the Ryman. Standing on that stage and thinking of all the legends from Cash to Hank to Merle to you name it, the history is right there below your feet. Just knowing how many legends stood right there is a thrill and a great responsibility. You can hear that little voice inside you – “Don’t screw this up!”
Thanks for your question, Anthony!
